The issue of Nigerian music industry and the Ghanaian music industry has always been a controversial one. Why do some people hold the view that the Nigerian music industry has to gain more recognition than the Ghanaian music industry? Here are some of the reasons why.
First, the Nigerian music industry seem to gain more recognition because of the more usage of English in their piece of work which Ghanaians don’t. Ghanaians use too much of the local dialect in their songs. Therefore, it takes only someone who understands their dialect to relate to their songs.
But Nigerians use more of English in their lyrics to which almost every one can correlate to. It’s easier for people to understand Nigerian songs across the globe because there’s a lot of English used in them. The feeling is opposite when it comes to Ghanaian songs. It’s just a few who can relate to the local dialect. This is therefore a factor why the Nigerian music industry seems to gain recognition than the Ghanaian music industry.
Secondly, Nigerians also seem to be more supportive than Ghanaians. Nigerians have really proved to the world how supportive they are to their people. This is because of how they help their upcoming artists to also make a good name for their industry. They are easy to reach out their hands to the upcoming ones. This has made them have a lot of young artists who are also doing good in the industry. With this, it doesn’t take much time for Nigerian underground artists to emerge.
This is however different in the case of Ghana. It’s only a few of the big artists that are willing to help. And we all know that two heads are better than one. It is only when there is togetherness can there be progress. Some are also being selfish. They always want to be at the top. They don’t want to push anyone, forgetting they were also pushed there by someone.
Some of these things are the reasons why Nigerians seem to take over everything. Which has also made their music industry gain recognition than the Ghanaian music industry.
